Social media users have been left enraged following the arrest of a police officer filmed in a viral video with billionaire businessman, Razaq Okoya’s sons.
It was reported that the billionaire’s son, Raheem Okoya, who is a musician, had shared a video of a policeman helping him carry bundles of cash as he promoted his new song, Credit Alert.
In the video, the policeman was captured carrying the bundles of N1000 notes as the musician and his younger brother, Wahab danced and sprayed the cash in the air.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in a statement on Friday via its official handle on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, now known as X, revealed that the officer in the viral video has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.
“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police. Thanks”.
The statement didn’t sit well with netizens who knocked the NPF for detaining the police officer and exonerating the sons of the billionaire business mogul.
Many are demanding that the same treatment be meted out to the Okoya’s sons, who were abusing the naira.
