Tinubu  Emerges APC Presidential Candidate

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has emerged the 2023 presidential candidate of the party with a total of 1,271 votes.

The former Lagos State governor emerged the winner of the presidential primary of the party held in Abuja from Tuesday to Wednesday

Rotimi  Amaechi polled 316 votes to come second while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came third with 235 votes.

Other  aspirants who  contested the election include Pastor Tunde Bakare and Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

Earlier before the commencement of the voting exercise, former Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, stepped down for Tinubu.


They announced their stepping down while addressing delegates at the convention.


Also, a presidential aspirant, Felix Nicholas, stepped down for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Nicholas who is 40 years old, announced his stepping down while addressing the delegates gathered to determine who emerges the flag-bearer of the party for the 2023 general election.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu- 1, 271 votes.

Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajuba one vote.

Pastor Tunde Bakare- zero vote.

Sen. Ahmad Yarima – four votes.

Sen. Rochas Okorocha – zero vote.

Mr Tein Jack Rich – zero vote.

Gov. Ben Ayade – 37 votes.

Gov. David Umuahi – 38 votes.

Dr Ahmad Lawal – 152 votes.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo- 235 votes.

Mr Rotimi Amaechi- 316 votes.

Gov. Yahaya Bello – 47 votes.

Mr Ogbonnaya Onu – one vote.

Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu- zero vote.
