‘Take SAED Seriously’

Lagos State has charged new members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to take seriously the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programmes, to benefit from its Employment Trust Fund start-up capital.

Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Special adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Special Duties and Inter-governmental Relations, gave the advice on Friday at the swearing-in of 2023 Batch C, stream 1 of the NYSC held at the Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

Ogunlende said the opportunity provided by the scheme through SAED and other programmes would create an enabling environment for them to carve out a pathway that would lead to greatness.

Congratulating the 2,690 corps members comprised of 840 male and 1850 female, he told them that the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund was partnering with the NYSC in the state.

“Lagos is a land of excess possibilities which can translate dreams of many who aspire to be great to reality.

”I therefore admonish you to take all aspects of the orientation course very seriously.

“Ensure you imbibe values of the scheme, endure minor inconveniences, maximise the resources available and get yourselves acquainted with information that will be provided.

“Carve out for yourself a pathway to greatness so that you can be a reference point that your parents and institution that can be proud of.

“Note that SAED initiative was developed and added to the NYSC scheme to help you acquire skills, become self-sufficient and accomplished entrepreneurs,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogunlende was represented by Mr Sesan Ogundeko, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Relations.

 On the same note, the NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, enjoined the corps members to avail themselves of all activities to prepare them for a befitting service of their fatherland.

Baderinwa also encouraged the corps members to obey all camp rules and participate fully in the conduct of the elections with high sense of responsibility and patriotism.
