Political appointees under former Governor Babatunde Fashola have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu to pay their severance package, nine years after leaving office .
Many of the appointees made up of Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants who served between 2007 and 2015 attributed the non- payment of their entitlements to the frosty relationship between ex Governor Fashola and his successor Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who ignored all entreaties by the appointees to pay the severance while he was in office.
“Most of us who served in some other establishments before joining the government lost our pensions and other entitlements and had to start all over again,” declared one of the ex -appointees
Since then, most of them have been left in the cold after serving the state.
As a result, the appointees are appealing to incumbent Governor Sanwo-Olu to do the needful before the end of his tenure.
“Since government is a continuum, there is no reason why Ex Governor Ambode refused to pay us. We want him to use his good offices to ensure that justice is done,’’ one of the aggrieved former appointees said.
