“You must recognise the significance of this programme, which is fostering national unity; the orientation camp has been a microscopic representation of Lagos State, a melting pot of cultures, languages and traditions.

“As you are deployed to various parts of the state where you will be actively engaged in local projects, address the challenges and contribute to the delivery project, and positive impact to the lives of host communities.

“Having experienced first hand the strength that comes with diversity, I am confident that you will carry this understanding with you to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large,” he added.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr Tunde Ogundeko.

Earlier, State Coordinator, NYSC, Lagos State, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, enjoined corps members to be of good behaviour and be involved in rewarding activities.

Baderinwa warned against the act of corps members rejecting places of posting for primary assignments.

She said such would no longer be tolerated, encouraging them to accept postings with joy.

“I urge you compatriots in this national service to bring to bear that you are ambassadors of NYSC scheme; you are therefore expected to contribute your quota significantly to the growth of our nation Nigeria.

The coordinator said that the state government had added value to the corps members deployed to Lagos, applauding Gov. Sanwo-Olu for the gesture.

She said that the corps members, having been properly groomed and fully involved in camp activities, assured would perform well in their service year, as they had imbibed the tenets of the scheme. (NAN)
