Head of the Lagos State Office Diaspora Matters, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, has released the anticipated album ‘From Lagos to the World’, a collection of songs that celebrates the vibrant energy of Lagos while connecting with global audiences.
Jermaine’s ‘From Lagos to the World’ album blends Afrobeat rhythms with soulful melodies and empowering messages that resonate deeply with African heritage and experiences.
The former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters is currently serving as the Executive Assistant, Lagos State Governor’s Office of Diaspora Affairs.
A statement he personally signed on Monday partly mentioned that “Nigerian inspirational artist, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu is proud to announce the release of his new album From Lagos to the World, a powerful collection of songs that celebrates the vibrant energy of Lagos while connecting with global audiences.
The album, now available on all major streaming platforms, blends Afrobeat rhythms with soulful melodies and empowering messages that resonate deeply with listeners everywhere.
“From Lagos to the World features seven standout tracks, each telling a unique story about life, identity, resilience, and the global African experience.”
The tracks in the album includes: This Is Lagos – A lively tribute to the bustling city of Lagos, capturing its pulse and spirit; Surulere – A heartfelt song about patience, perseverance, and belief in the process; Somebody – An empowering anthem encouraging self-worth and personal pride.
Others are: Dreamer – A motivational track that inspires listeners to chase their dreams and believe in their potential; Keep Rising – A song of resilience, reminding listeners to keep moving forward despite challenges; Calling Me Home – A nostalgic reflection on the longing for home and the power of one’s roots, and Diaspora: Come Back to Africa – A call for unity among the African diaspora, celebrating the richness of African heritage.
Speaking on the album, Sanwo-Olu, said: “This project is a celebration of my roots, my experiences, and my journey as an artist. Lagos has always been my muse, but I wanted this album to connect with people far beyond Nigeria. It’s about telling our stories, sharing our resilience, and reminding everyone—whether at home or abroad—of the beauty and strength that Africa represents.”
With ‘From Lagos to the World’, Sanwo-Olu “successfully blends his deep connection to Lagos with a global appeal, creating music that speaks to diverse audiences while remaining true to his African heritage.
