The legal team for Mr. Samuel Owolabi has demanded a public apology and retraction of defamatory statements made by his siblings (Mr Adesegun Adesina, Mr Owoduni Adesina, Mrs Olubunmi Aberuagba, Mr Adesgun Adesina Jnr and Miss Abolanle Adesina) within the next seven days or face legal action.
Recall that in a publication posted via WhatsApp titled ‘Setting the Records Straight: The Truth About Adesegun Adesina and the False Claims of Owolabi Samuel Adesina,” Mr. Owolabi’s siblings posited that he has been ‘spreading falsehood about his late father Adesegun Adesina regarding the burial of his late mother, late Madam Hannah Oyindamola Adesina.’
It was also stated in the publication that “Owolabi’s defiance of our father’s wish is not only inappropriate but exposes his true intention—ones that have nothing to do with respect for the deceased and everything to do with personal gain.”
They went on to state and claimed that their client spread the falsehood that their father has been diagnosed with dementia and is no longer mentally sound.
Again, they falsely accused Mr. Owolabi of attempting to sell their father’s property and that his actions are driven by greed, not respect.
He was also defamed by his siblings when he was accused of selling their father’s house in Edmond, Oklahoma, without permission and also of stealing $8,000 USD from their father’s bank account.
These and many other fabrications were published via WhatsApp to tarnish the good image of their client.
To this end, the legal team described his sibling’s claims as entirely unfounded and damaging to Owolabi’s reputation. They demanded a full retraction and apology to their client to be published on all platforms where the statements were shared.
The legal team also demands an N100bn compensation for the damage done to their client by virtue of the defamatory statement within seven days.
