In the wake of last Monday’s terrorist attack on an Abuja-Kaduna-bound train, alert residents yesterday discovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State .
The device, suspected to be a bomb, was reportedly discovered in a bucket along the Makarfi road in the community.
The Kaduna train station is located at the Rigasa area of the state.
At least eight passengers were killed, while 26 got injured while an unspecified number of passengers are still unaccounted for in last Monday’s terror attack.
State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, while confirming the incident, said operatives attached to the Command had successfully defused the bomb.
The police spokesman enjoined residents to report any suspicious movement within their vicinity to the nearest police station.
“Yes, there was an IED planted around Makarfi Road, Rigasa this morning. We received a distress call and our officers from the EOD were deployed to the scene. “On getting to the scene, they identified the device as Improvised Explosive Device and they successfully defused the device without causing harm to anyone, ” he said.
