The Old Grammarians Society (OGS), the alumni association of the C.M.S Grammar School, Lagos, has elected new members into its executive committee at its Annual General Meeting which held recently.
In a statement made available to our correspondent at the weekend, signed by the Global President, Mr. Olu Vincent and new Publicity Director, Otunba ‘Dare Odufowokan, the alumni association pledged the commitment of the new leadership to the realisation of the dreams of the founders of the first secondary school in Nigeria and the society.
Drs. Bunmi Enigbokan and Dipo Arigbede are the new Vice Presidents while Prince Seni Ogungbadero is General Secretary.
The statement said the society would be committed to the deployment of the alumni association as a tool for the restoration of the glorious days of OGS, while mentoring young Grammarians and networking among members.
Vincent, the statement said, appealed to members to join hands with him and the executive committee in the delivery of its mandate.
Vincent, a former Director, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), according to the statement, reiterated his administration’s readiness to set up a foundation that will further strengthen the society and also address the challenges of unemployment among Old Boys who are currently unemployed.
This, the president noted, would be achieved by approaching those who have viable businesses to help its graduates, adding that those who have skills are also encouraged. The move, he added, will help to bridge the gap between the older and younger generations.
“We will build on the achievements of the past two years while entrenching the processes that we have in place and make them parts of our constitution so that nobody comes in and change it all. We have promised to take OGS higher and further support our Alma Mata to retain its place as the first and the best among secondary schools in Nigerian,” the statement said.
