Major stakeholders in the aviation industry will converge on Lagos in July to discuss Nigeria’s aviation survival strategies.
The stakeholders will gather at the 28th Annual Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
The Chief Executive Officer of CITA Aviation Fuelling Company Ltd., Dr Thomas Ogungbangbe, will chair the event, according to Mr Albinus Chiedu, the Secretary of LAAC Conference Planning Committee.
Chiedu said in a statement on Sunday in Lagos that the conference would have the theme: “Aviation Survivability Amidst a Challenging Macro-Economic Environment”.
He said that the theme was informed by the current economic challenges in Nigeria which, he said, added to existing constraints to the growth and development of the country’s aviation industry.
He listed the challenges to include poor access to forex, high fuel cost, high aircraft maintenance cost, and poor airport infrastructure.
Chiedu described Ogungbangbe as an international energy strategist, noting that he was the General Manager of Aviation Business at MRS Oil and Gas before his secondment to Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc as Aviation Marketing Manager, West and Central Africa.
According to Chiedu, other aviation technocrats billed to speak at the conference include a former Rector of Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Capt. Samuel Caulcrick, and the Second Vice President of Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative, Dr Alex Nwuba.
He added that a former Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Dr Richard Aisuebeogun, would moderate the panel session of the conference. (NAN)
