Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commended women in Nigeria for their hard work and resilience in contributing to the growth of the country .
As the world celebrates this year’s anniversary of the ‘Girls in ICT day’ with the theme; “Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures”, NCC said women can be valuable assets in the Nigerian Information and Communications Technology industry,
“As the telecom regulator we celebrate the Nigerian woman as part of the 10th anniversary of Girls in ICT Day 2021,” it said.
The Commission described the Nigerian woman as a natural leader, planner, administrator and strategic thinker, who does not see her gender as an obstacle to greatness but as an entity imbued with ambition, hard work, tenacity and excellence .
‘Girls in ICT day’ is celebrated annually around the world to raise awareness on the growing importance of digital skills to pursue successful professional careers across sectors. The initiative aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs), enabling both girls and technology companies to reap the benefits of greater female participation in the ICT sector.
