The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed over 10 buildings at Victory Estate in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the State for non-compliance with the State building Codes and regulations.
According to the General Manager, LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, most of the building owners/developers in the Estate have no building Plan Approval from the State Government, which according to him, contravenes the State’s building Codes and regulations.
Oki further stated that before the seal-up of the buildings for non-compliance, LASBCA had in the past served their owners/developers several Contravention notices in order to compel compliance all to no avail hence, their seal-up.
The General Manager, also appealed to the building owners /developers to take advantage of the ongoing Lagos State Government’s Amnesty Programme carried out through the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) to perfect and regularize their building documents, warning that the program comes to a close on the 31st December, 2024
He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of the citizenry through thorough monitoring, supervision and enforcement of the State’s building Codes and Regulations.
“Bringing sanity to the Built Environment is paramount to the State Government and illegality will not be condoned as contraveners will be meant to face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterrent to others.
