LASBCA Gives 2 Week- Ultimatum to Occupants of Over 15 Distressed Buildings at Iponri Housing Estate.

The lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has identified over fifteen distressed buildings to be pulled down by the agency Iponri Estate, Surulere due to their distressed conditions

This was disclosed by the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki who said that the agency has given several notices and warnings to the affected residents to vacate the area in order to prevent loss of lives and properties.

LASBCA boss noted that asking residents to vacate distressed buildings to enable his agency remove them is in the best interest of the public.

He warned that the deteriorating condition of some of the distressed buildings poses great danger as their integrity has been compromised and could give way any time .

To avert any likely disaster often associated with building collapse, Oki noted that it is important for the State Government to act swiftly for public safety.



He reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing building safety standards across the State, urging residents to comply with evacuation orders to avoid any casualties.

In addition, LASBCA assured the public that it would continue to monitor buildings across the state to identify other structures that may pose similar risks to avert dangers.



While explaining the risks that the distressed buildings possess to the livelihood of the residents, House of Assembly member, representing Surulere constituency 1, Honoruable Desmond Elliot, and Governor Sanwo-Olu Special Adviser on Housing, Barrister Barakat Bakare implored the residents not to compromise standards but abide by the building codes and regulations .

The Honorable applauded LASBCA on their dedication in ensuring sanity in the built environment and also implored the residents to vacate the area to safeguard lives and Properties
