International Training Center for Applied Behaviour Analysis (ITC-ABA) is now in a strategic partnership with Edo State College of Education (ESCOE) to house the Science of Behaviour Analysis training programme in Africa.
Applied Behaviour Analysis is an offshoot of psychology which focuses on behavioural changes, mental health and developmental disabilities. Simply put, Applied Behaviour Analysis is good for effective parenting practices and for the building of a healthy society.
The partnership between the International Training Center for Applied Behavior Analysis (ITC-ABA) and Edo State College of Education, Afuze Campus, affords educational training and state-of-the-art neuro-behavioural intervention services for people with autism, traumatic brain injuries and other developmental disabilities.
” Our goal is to support both children and adults with behavioural challenges and skills deficits adapt to functional activities of daily living. We empower families through training and facilitate the access and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities into the community through direct intervention,”Dr. Usifo Edward Asikhia, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst told TheNewsturf .
Edo State College of Education, with the foresight of Edo State Governor Obaseki and the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe has already embraced the idea. The institution’s management team led by the Provost of the College, Professor Osagie O. Roseline recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. Usifo Edward Asikhia who represented the International Training Center for Applied Behavior Analysis in Nigeria.
The institution has already started screening students interested in the programme for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The programme will also be available across the multi-campus institution in Igueben and Abudu, with the students enjoying the unique opportunity to delve into the dynamic field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
