INEC Begins Uploading Election Results As Candidates Await Outcome

The candidates running for governorship and state Houses of Assembly, along with their supporters and other stakeholders, are anxiously waiting for the outcome of the polls held on Saturday. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun uploading the results on its viewing portal, with a total of 77,143 results uploaded as of 10pm.

The governorship election took place in 28 out of the 36 states in Nigeria, while state assembly elections were conducted across all the states. INEC had previously faced criticism for failing to upload the results of the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections immediately due to technical difficulties. However, the commission has assured the public that real-time upload will take place for the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

As of now, some results have been uploaded in 28 states, including Lagos, Oyo, Plateau, Kwara, Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Gombe, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Cross River, Borno, Benue, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, and Abia. However, there have been isolated incidents of violence and electoral offences, with some suspects being arrested in various parts of the country.
