Ibadan Explosion: Oyo Sets Up Donation Platform

The Oyo state government has set up a platform for donation to support the victims of the devastating explosion which led to the loss of lives and destruction of property in Ibadan, the state capital recently.

Governor Seyi Makinde who disclosed this in Ibadan yesterday while receiving members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by its chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, hinted that the move was part of a long -term solution to ameliorate the problems caused by the incident.

Meanwhile, a statement on the platform indicated that all donations will go directly to the bank account of Dejo Oyelese Landlords/Residents Association.

This was as the state government said it will work with the leadership of the association to ensure accountability and active participation of all affected in the disbursement of the donations.

The statement read in part: “Please donate to support victims of the Ibadan Bodija Explosion. Your donation will go a long way to help. Thank you. Oyo state Government.

“As Yoruba and indeed Nigerians, we believe in the power of community and the strength of unity. This donation portal is provided by the Oyo State government as a service to victims directly affected by the Ibadan explosion disaster.

“All donations go directly to the bank account of Dejo Oyelese Landlord/Resident Association, while Oyo State Government will work with the leadership of the resident association to ensure accountability and active participation of all affected in the disbursement of the donations.

“This is the time to rebuild the communities affected by the Ibadan Explosion. Join us.”

Chairman of the PDP BoT and former Senate President, Senator Wabara, commended the governor for his prompt response to the unfortunate incident.

He also appreciated Makinde for showing his prowess as an engineer by directing that a structural integrity test be conducted on about 230 buildings in the affected area.
