A 30-year-old man, Daniel Chigozie, of Abela area in Sango Ota, of Ogun State has been arrested for selling his 9-month-old son to three different buyers in Ogun State.
He was arrested by the Amotekun Corps for allegedly selling his nine-month-old son, Daniel Chinonye Darlington, to three different buyers.
Commandant of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, David Akinremi said the agency received intelligence that Chigozie sold his son to different buyers at various locations in Sango, Meiran, and Apapa area of Lagos between August 2022 and February 2023. The man received payments of N150,000, N400,000, and N700,000 from the unknown buyers.
Investigation by the corps also revealed that the suspect worked with a criminal syndicate and had devised a method of retrieving the child from each buyer after each sale, until he sold him to the last buyer, Dr. Nosa in Apapa.
Chigozie confessed to the crime in his statement and he has been profiled by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Humans for a follow-up investigation to recover the child and for prosecution.
