The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will deploy over 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, 92 ambulances, 23 tow trucks and 144 motorbikes to ensure safety on Nigerian roads during the Easter period.
The special patrol, which will take place from April 6 to April 12, 2023 is designed to curb road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries, as well as ensure a prompt response to road traffic crash victims, unhindered engagement in public education and enlightenment, and speedy removal of obstructions from highways.
FRSC spokesman, Mr. Bisi Kazeem said the Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, has tasked Commanding Officers to ensure full deployment of staff for maximum visibility and prompt removal of obstructions on all highways across the country.
The FRSC will also conduct over 200 mobile court operations to check offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, road obstructions, phone use while driving, overloading, seatbelt and child restraint violations, passenger’s manifest violation, operation of mechanical deficient and rickety vehicles, latching and twist-locks violation, and illegal use of spy number plates.
The FRSC boss also assured the public that the Corps will engage in impactful public education programs, strengthen surveillance activities to regulate unprofessional excesses, sustain effective patrol operations, and monitor highways adequately to achieve the objectives of the special operations.
