*Says Bayelsa’s Collective Wellbeing His Driving Force
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has won the Most Impactful Governor of the Year Award at the 9th edition of the Bayelsa Media Awards held on Thursday in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The Bayelsa governor also bagged the Media Pedestal Award for elevating the media profession in the state.
Project Manager of the annual event, Victor Binawari, said Governor Diri deserved the awards for his visible development projects and for his ability to unite Bayelsans.
Binawari also stated that the governor merited the Media Pedestal Award for making significant contributions to development of the media profession and promotion of media excellence in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Diri expressed appreciation to the organisers for finding him worthy of the awards.
Represented by his Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayibaina Duba, Governor Diri said what drives his administration’s policies and decisions was the collective well-being of all Bayelsans
He assured that he would not deviate from the mandate given him to serve people of the state.
Diri stressed that government was about the people and their welfare, and that his administration will continue to positively impact on the lives of people of the state.
The state’s helmsman described as unacceptable a situation where the headquarters of some local governments in the state were not accessible by road and assured that the Nembe-Brass road in the Bayelsa East Senatorial District will become a reality.
He also solicited the continuous support of people of the state for his administration to enable it deliver more projects to all parts of the state.
The organisers also endowed two categories of the awards in the governor’s name, namely the SDD Prize for Best Reporter (Print) won by Bassey Willie of Daily Trust and the SDD Prize for Best Newscaster (Radio) won by Amananaowei Tombiri of Peoples 93.1FM Yenagoa.
