Deputy Senate President Salutes Funkekeme at 58, Mourns Bishop Emuobor

 Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has congratulated a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme on the occasion of his 58th birthday.

In a message signed by his  Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr Yomi Odunuga,  the Deputy President of the Senate commended the politician for distinguishing himself in the various capacities he has served the state.

Funkekeme, currently Senior Political Adviser to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,   had served as Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Works and Chairman, Governing Council of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro.  

“And so, on behalf of my family, my dear constituents, we wish you good health and more fulfilling years ahead,” Omo-Agege stated.

In another development, the  Deputy President of the Senate ,  Ovie Omo-Agege,  expressed deep shock and sadness over the demise of the President and Founder of Trinity Gospel Mission, Ughelli, Bishop Diamond Emuobor.

He described Bishop Emuobor, who chaired bodies like the Elders Council, Urhobo Christian Ministers Association (UCMAI), Delta State Christian Pilgrimage Board and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) (Ughelli North Chapter) as a religious leader who spoke truth to power with his biblical teachings.


“Bishop Emuobor’s passing is a heavy loss to all of us, and his memory will remain evergreen in the hearts of the Urhobo people in particular and Deltans in general. Indeed, we have lost a wise and eminent religious leader who used the pulpit to speak truth to power,” he said.
