Civil servants from Grade Level 10 and above in Cross River state are to resume work on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
However, the order banning mass gatherings of all kinds such as worships, weddings, burials is still in place with defaulters liable for prosecution in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Cross River State Epidemic and Pandemic Law 2020
Governor Ben Ayade who gave the directives at the weekend said returning civil servants should receive nose masks from the COVID-19 Response Task Force through their respective permanent secretaries and use same in line with the ‘ no mask, no movement’ policy of the state.
A statement released by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Governor, Christian Ita, said all nose masks to be used in the state must be locally made, with the place of origin clearly marked.
The statement emphasised that the masks which are to be distributed free of charge by the Cross River State Garment Factory should always be worn by the workers and residents in public places such as markets, shopping malls, sports arena and banks.
Meanwhile, all entry and exit points (air, land and water) into the state will remain closed for a further two weeks while permission for any emergency evacuation by air, would only be given by the national headquarters of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The statement however stressed that the airline pilots flying into the state would not be permitted to alight. This, it said, is in line with the government’s determination to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
