Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state has extended the ‘Stay-At-Home’ order issued to civil servants to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease by one more week.
Civil servants in the state had earlier been on a two-week stay-at –home order which would expire tomorrow before the new directive .
A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita said the extension was in furtherance of the governor’s determination to ensure that residents in the state were not adversely affected by the global scourge.
‘’ By this development, civil servants in the state are directed to stay away from work for a further week except those on essential services (medical personnel, paramilitary and revenue officers). Government’s concerted effort to prevent the spread of COVID 19 to Cross River is also fully on course’’, he said.
The spokesman stressed Governor Ayade’s relentless appeal to the people and residents of Cross River state to continue to adopt and adhere to all the preventive measures already in place in the state.
Ita also reaffirmed the governor’s promise to do everything ‘humanly possible’ to ensure that Cross River remains COVID-19 free.
