Chief Bode George mourns Okupe, says ‘his views were patriotic, nationalistic and noble’

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has described the death of Dr. Doyin Okupe as “a shock and a personal loss”.

Speaking on Saturday, George, the Atona Oodua of Yorubaland, said he got closer to Okupe when he was spokesman to former President Olusegun Obasanjo “and he never disappointed”.

“He also  served as President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and his views were patriotic, nationalistic and noble.

“Despite his political leanings for decades, he was an easy-going and principled individual. He was always focused and never insulted anybody.

“He was a medical doctor with friends all over the country and he never severed ties with his friends despite political differences. He was such a wonderful fellow. He never played politics of bitterness

 “It is my  prayer that  God will grant his family members and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I also pray that God will grant him eternal rest”.
