Thieves have broken into the newly inaugurated 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, stealing electronics worth millions of naira.

The hospital was commissioned in February by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Amotekun Corps in Ogun State confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects reportedly burgled the hospital and made away with six 43-inch television sets, two 65-inch Bruhm television sets, three Bruhm fridges, one Midea refrigerator, and three Lontor rechargeable standing fans, all valued at N3 million.

The prime suspect, Ogunjembola Kehinde, allegedly led his gang to burglarize the hospital and was arrested following a complaint of burglary and stealing by one Kehinde Banjoko. Banjoko reported to the Amotekun Corps that some unknown persons broke into her apartment while she was away in Lagos and stole her generator, gas cylinder, standing fan, mattresses, rug and others, valued at about N500,000.

The Amotekun Commandant in Ogun, David Akinremi, confirmed that efforts are on-going to apprehend other criminal receivers mentioned by the suspects.
