Abiodun mourns as Ogun monarch dies

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed shock over the passing of the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Basibo, on Thursday.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Abiodun described the late monarch’s death as a significant loss to the state.

He praised Oba Basibo as a custodian of tradition who was deeply committed to the peace, progress, and prosperity of his people.

Abiodun said, “I received with profound shock the passing of His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu Basibo, the Alaperu of Iperu. Today, Iperu Akesan, Remoland, and indeed Ogun State have lost not just a revered monarch but a guiding light, a custodian of tradition, and a pillar of wisdom and dignity.

“Kabiyesi was more than a traditional ruler; he was a father to all, a unifier, and a true embodiment of leadership and service. His reign was marked by peace, progress, and unwavering commitment to the prosperity of our people.

“With his deep love for Iperu and his passion for the development of Remoland, he was a beacon of hope and a bridge between our proud heritage and the promise of a greater future.”

The governor extended his condolences to the monarch’s family and the people of Iperu, praying for strength and comfort for all those mourning his passing.

“As we come to terms with this monumental loss, I commiserate with my fellow Iperu Akesan citizens, the great people of Remoland, and Ogun State as a whole. May we find solace in the remarkable legacy he has left behind—a legacy of honour, integrity, and selfless service.

“I pray that the Almighty grants Kabiyesi eternal rest and strengthens the royal family, the chiefs, and all of us who mourn him. May his memory remain a source of inspiration and unity for generations to come,” Abiodun concluded.
