Abducted Ekiti School Children Regain Freedom

Abducted pupils of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti were this morning freed from captivity. The pupils were kidnapped last Monday along Emure – Eporo Road while returning to Eporo-Ekiti after school hours.

The kidnappers reportedly waylaid the school bus and forcefully took away nine persons comprising five students, three female teachers and a driver.

Ekiti State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu who confirmed the release of the pupils this morning, alongside their teachers, however said the school bus driver was killed.

“All victims were rescued today at about 1.30am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was suspectedly killed by the abductors,” he said.

Reports claimed that officials of the state Ministry of Health immediately took the rescued pupils and their teachers to Ado Ekiti, the state capital for medical attention.
